Title: Line Connects Us
Artist: Alek Phan
Year: 2025
Venue: Evergreen Brick Works, Toronto, Canada
Exhibition Type: Public Art Installation – Pride Month

Medium: Participatory installation

Description:
Line Connects Us (2025) is a participatory installation inspired by the Vietnamese belief in sợi dây định mệnh—the thread of fate that connects all people. Created for Pride Month at Evergreen Brick Works, the work invited visitors to contribute lines of string or paint, each representing their own story, identity, or path. As participants added their lines, intersections formed organically, visualizing the invisible connections that bind communities across differences.

The installation transforms a public space into a living, evolving map of shared experiences. By engaging participants in co-creation, the work physically manifests the concept of collective fate and interconnectedness, echoing both personal narratives and universal bonds.

Documentation / Publication:
The installation was documented and featured by Evergreen Brick Works through digital photography and video highlights on their Pride Month programming channels (2025).
